Family recording guide
How do I keep a song in my grandmother's own voice?
Use NanaVerse's song and lullaby recording flow to save the actual performance, with a title, singer and words. You can listen back in the app without creating an AI voice model.
Before recording
Ask the singer's permission, choose a quiet place and check your microphone permission. Start with a short recording so you can confirm the sound and sharing choices. An internet connection is needed to save and retrieve the recording.
Record, review and save
- Sign in and open your family. From Family, open the songs and lullabies section; its recording screen is titled Lullabies.
- Choose + Add. Enter a Title. You can also fill in Who sang it?, Language and Words / lyrics.
- Choose Record the song, allow microphone access if prompted, then choose Stop recording.
- Use Preview recording to listen. To try again, choose Recorded ✓ — tap to redo.
- Under Who can see this?, review the selected audience. Choose Only me for a personal recording or A family group for the intended household. Do not assume the form starts private.
- Choose Save, then open the saved song and use its playback control. Confirm that it plays before discarding any original recording.
If something goes wrong
If microphone access is denied, enable it for NanaVerse or your browser and try again. If an upload fails, the form shows an error; keep the form open, check your connection and retry. If the song has no recording, it may have been saved as words only. A relative who cannot find it should check the selected family and audience.
Recording, nursery rhymes and generated narration
This guide covers the family song recording form. Recording a family version of a nursery rhyme is a separate story-library workflow. Consented AI voice narration is also separate: it creates speech from text rather than preserving the original performance. None of these features automatically evaluates singing technique.
Availability and limits
Apple's NanaVerse 1.0.1 release notes confirm in-app song playback and the lullaby detail page. Google Play's September 29 update describes improved family-song recording and playback. The steps above use English labels; labels on your installed release may differ. Browser microphone support and permissions can affect web recording.
NanaVerse is available on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. The store downloads are free, with in-app purchases. Apple lists an optional AIPaati Membership for full family access. Check the offer in your app for current terms and feature access; a free download does not mean every feature is free.
